Whew. Weeks 1 and 2 were rough, but in Week 3, my teams won 75% (3/4 leagues) of their games and my overall “sleeper portfolio” (combined redraft, keeper, and dynasty leagues) went 16-5 (76%). To start each installment of this newsletter, I’ll give you a snapshot of my current performance in each league, and we can dive deeper into the specific leagues/situations later.

The DynoBallers is a league where I’ve hit every bump in the road. I relied on Rodgers as a bridge QB2 until Kyler returned, I had Nick Chubb, and I made some unfortunate trades to solve my QB2 issue. The first trade was fine, selling Jakobi Meyers off a spike week along with Perine to get Jimmy G ahead of Week 2, but then I went ahead and traded Jimmy and a 3rd for Carr right before he got hurt in Week 3.

Key takeaways from this situation: I could have kept Perine + Meyers in my Superflex position for an average of 10.45 points per game. However, I opted to acquire a quarterback, expecting higher scoring, and ended up with an average of 10.81 points per game.

Attempting to right my wrong from the Chubb injury, I sold Tony Pollard for a 25 1st and Jaylen Warren. I’ve realized I’d rather play the injury-away game than continue holding high-value, yet non-insulated assets. The only two RBs I see as value-insulated are truly Bijan and Gibbs.

Moving forward, things aren’t looking too bad as I’m averaging 13 PPG higher than the league average. The downside is that I’ve been riding the high of variance with almost 30% of my Week 3 points coming from Raheem Mostert’s dominant performance. With 4 teams comfortably below me in contending rank, I feel as though I’m compelled to continue giving it a college try this year.

In the short term, I’d like to flip Mostert for a 24 2nd, and get another threshold WR that I can start comfortably. Ridley is likely a sell, and if things don’t break right, I can see moving Kelce for a 24 1+

I really felt as though I was a top contender in this league before the season started, but injuries to Rodgers, and Burrow’s lackluster play have really hurt this squad. Injury-away guys definitely need work, but the WR corps is nothing to laugh at. I’d love to arb-off of Terry for either more points (Keenan/Mike Evans types+) or younger players with more upside. (Diontae/Christian Watson/QJ) There are definitely some trades to find and edges to grind ahead of Week 4. The mid-24 1st I own is trending towards late, and in a 1QB format, those are pretty devoid of value, so that will definitely be a priority sell ahead of the deadline.

Considering this is the only 2 PPR for TE league I’m going over, I should really have better TEs than Everett and the Trautman. I’ve been mulling over a Kittle offer, but not sure that I want to part with a 24 1st that’s relying on Geno and Bryce Young at QB.

I’m only 7 PPG behind the league average without Kupp, Diontae, and Jones (2 games) missing time so I’m feeling good about my season-long prospects. Mattison has looked gross, but his usage has been good on an expected FPPG basis, and the market is pretty dry for him, so I’d rather just hold him.

TEs are pretty pricy in this league, but as I said earlier I’m getting close to a Kittle trade that could help me out at receiver as well. Fixing TE is one of my short-term goals here for sure.

This has been a more interesting league for sure. I came in with expectations to construct one of those really good-looking offseason rosters through a productive struggle, but some deals have become available that were too hard to pass up.

I was able to acquire Kamara for pretty cheap, and I even had a time-arbitrage trade come into my inbox, but to explain it, I’ll have to go back to the startup. In the startup (back in May) I traded back from the 4.03 (Drake London) to the 7.06 (Terry McLaurin) and gained a 24 1st. Four months later, the same manager comes back wanting to rebuild, and I offered him Jakobi Meyers (14.03) and his 24 1st for Drake London back. I believe in London’s long-term prospects and see a few clear rebuilders below his team, so felt happy enough to send away his 24 1st at that time. The same manager sold Kamara to me at a discount as well, here’s that trade below:
