DynoGM #3 - Embracing the Struggle

@me in The Goat League starting 0-4 without my 24 1st next year

Here are the sheets for you sickos. Week 4 has been tough on your boy:

Week 4 has come and gone and I’m a combined 5-11 in these 4 leagues…. Why are you reading this?

The Goat League

Anyway, I’m out my 24 1st round pick in The Goat League (hence the first meme) so I have no choice but to go all-in. I have Cooper Kupp returning this week so there's that, and I got Diontae on IR so I’m hoping he’s back soon. I have a late 24 1st and someone’s 25 1st so I’m hoping I can buy an elite TE/WR combo soon as this league is 2 PPR for TEs. The Kittle deal fell through so we’ll have to find a different angle. If I haven’t made a move by next week I’ve failed to be honest.

DynoBallers

The DynoBallers league is tough as 4 teams are already tanking, so I need to keep my competing hat on for the most part. There’s been a lot of interest on the Calvin Ridley front but everyone is trying to buy low. After a couple of good games from him, I might be able to move him for a QJ/London type (plus) hopefully. Need to acquire some 2nds and 3rds so come next offseason I can really retool this roster to my liking. Still think there are some edges to grind though.

This week, I’m out a QB2 as D*shaun is on bye, so I traded Chubb for Dobbs, as I don’t like Chubb's outlook next year off of his injury and Dobbs can be my fill-in guy while Kyler is injured. I also think there’s a good chance Dobbs has earned himself a bridge QB deal next offseason for a team that drafts a rookie or is in the same spot as the Bucs were this offseason.

Fantasy Football 101

In other news, this 1QB league has been treating me pretty well. 3-1 and 4th in points for. However, I’m really looking to move off of McLaurin as he’s older and just not producing well, with no clear catalyst to league-average QB play. Hoping Burrow figures his stuff out and gets healthy as Chase was really weighing me down the first couple of weeks. RB is thin but got some key injury away guys in Dowdle and Breida. Murray could mix in as well as he’s playing ahead of Damien Harris right now. No team is really out of it as it’s a 10 teamer so I’m hoping to spend my first when someone decides they’re out of the contention.

Italian Mafia Dynasty

In this league, I’m 1-3 but have some pieces coming together in Alvin Kamara and Christian Watson. I could get some work from the rookie HHG guys in Charbs and Bigsby down the stretch but I’m not really banking on it. I also have an extra first in my back pocket so might eye a Wilson → Burrow trade as I’ve seen some selling low on Joe Brrr. We’ll see though. That’s it for now.

Actionable Advice: Consider sending offers for Joe Burrow. Remember when he was considered in the same league as Herbert, Lamar, and Lawrence? Now he's fallen behind CJ Stroud. I'm prepared to part with Goff, Wilson, Cousins, and a playoff 1st-round pick to acquire him. Make sure to get a throw-in RB with him, as that’s just good process.

Lessons Learned: Buy discounted vets. Alvin Kamara was dirt cheap as a throw-in on trades and even in startups in the 11th round. He received 14 targets last week and was a monster in PPR formats

Additional Insight: I’ve gone too thin at QB in a lot of leagues

In SuperFlex formats, QBs are king. In a lot of leagues I’ve just dealt my depth QB options cheaply and it’s coming to bite me here. Going into next offseason depth at QB will be a priority for my teams in trading and startups. Guys like Stafford, Wilson, and even Dobbs have proved to be great in this format.
